My name is Muhammad Jatta. I am a Gambian born in Serekunda. I attended Nusrat Senior Secondary. It all started when I was very young seeing myself loving  the mood of creating and designing.

 

I started drawing images with square heads without even knowing what's abstract. When I was eighteen I was involved in commercial art. My mother realizing the potential I have in arts, she sent me to a cousin of mine in Bakau to learn how to paint.

 

For being so interested in money I was reluctant to pay attention to my mother's advise. She kept asking me to join my cousin in Bakau to teach me how to paint on canvas and how to do batik. In 2001 I decided to listen to her advise and joined my cousin.                       

The first day I saw Alagie's (my cousin) paintings, it was like wow...!!! I was very much inspired and decided to stay in his studio for more studies ins drawings and paintings. It took a year before I started to paint well on canvas and made sales under the supervision of my teacher Alagie Badjie.

 

I had my first exhibition in 2003 at   Atlantic Hotel with Alagie himself and many other artists. I made sales in this my first exhibition and love it very much. Since then until now am painting seriously.

Muhhamad Jatta has given out paintings worth $3000 to the foundation for fund raising.
